Huretta Davis and her friend Bessie Mae
Bessie Mae is Aunt Huretta's first cousin and that photo was taken in Sept 1929.
She lived just past Harold Hampton's house, right behind where Newmans used to live. Mother used to talk to her and about her.
When we were little and that land was for sell Papa took all of us to look at it. We kids were running around playing and we were standing in a place and you pointed behind me and said "there's a snake". And it was, its head was coming toward my heel. Papa took rocks and sticks and killed it. Mother lectured us, you know how she would always tell us "see I told you, you should have not blah blah blah" (gone anywhere or done anything).
