THE DON OWENS FAMILY

Dorothy Jean Joines married Donald Ralph Owens on January 24, 1970. They have no children but have grown to love the many animals they care for on their small farm including but not limited to dogs, cats, horses, chickens and roosters.

Dorothy Jean Joines was born at 123 Henry Street, Madisonville, Tennessee in the Ross Joines family homeplace. She was the sixth child of Jessie Mae and Ross Joines. She was born January 4, 1930. She graduated from Madisonville High School in 1948. After school she worked at several jobs in Madisonville before moving to Chattanooga, Tennessee in January of 1952. She lived with her older sister, Huretta and her husband Charlie and daughter Nancy until 1959. During this time she worked at the American Lava, a subsidiary of 3M corporation.

She moved into her own apartment and lived there until she met and married Don Owens who worked at 3M. After they were married on January 24, 1970, they Lived in Red Bank, TN for a while before buying a home in Hixson, TN. Jean retired in 1977 and later they moved to Scottsboro, Alabama, where Don found a better job at an aluminum company until his retirement in ______.

Today Jean and Don spend their time tending to their beloved horses along with assorted dogs, cats and pet chickens on a farm near the lake in the Scottsboro area.
