The Mother of Peggy Lee Blevins MHS Class of 1960

Gertrude Viola Atkins (Tseu) Lee
(April 23, 2011)
Gertrude Viola Atkins (Tseu) Lee of Maryville, formerly of Madisonville, passed away suddenly, Saturday, April 23, into the arms of her loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As she always told her children, her initials "GAL" stood for "God's Amazing Love." As our Christian mother, she taught us that from love, through love, touches love and goes on and on forever. Born May 16, 1920 in Madisonville to the late Joe and Phoebe Torbett Atkins, she was a graduate of Monroe County Central High School in 1938 and was an accountant for Tate's Building Supply, Madisonville for 22 years. She was retired from Blevins Paint & Decorating Center of Maryville, but to her, her greatest accomplishment was her children. She was a talented artist in hand-designed china, Christmas dishes, ceramics, quilts and decoupage that she lovingly made for her children and friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Madisonville for 90 years and was a member of the Hope Sunday School class. The old bell tower of the church was built by her father.
She was 90.
