Robert L. Cooley Sr. of Madisonville, former sheriff of Monroe County, passed away at 4:34 p.m., Monday, Oct. 4, at Wood Presbyterian Home.
He was 93.
Preceded in death by: mother of his children, Cora Watson Cooley; son, Robert Cooley Jr.; father, Jack Cooley; mother, Zonie Cardin Cooley Watson; brother, Lester Cooley; and niece, Zelma Strickland.
Survivors include: loving wife of 43 years-Bonnie Ruth Cooley;
Daughter and son-in-law-Lena and Billy Dye of Shelbyville;
Daughter-in-law-Carrie L. Cooley of Madisonville;
Grandchildren-Robin Cooley, Rhonda Cooley Finch of Madisonville; Gary Peels, Lori Hollis, Robbie Dye, all of Shelbyville;
Great-grandchildren-Jackson Cooley Finch and Caroline Finch, both of Madisonville; Hannah Peels, Jordan, Haley and Ashton Hollis and Carley and Lily Dye, all of Shelbyville;
Stepdaughter and son-in-law-Hazel and Ray Plaster of Chickamauga, Ga.;
Step-grandson-Bart Plaster;
Step-great-grandchildren-Ashley and Rachel Plaster, all of Chickamauga;
Sisters-Lillie Atkins and Bernice Hardin, both of Madisonville;
Sister-in-law-Johanna Cooley of Madisonville;
Special niece and nephews-Millie and Eddie Estes of Sweetwater; Gordon Cooley of Jefferson City; and Bobby Hardin of Madisonville.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m., Thursday, in Biereley-Hale Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Leming officiating.
Interment will be 11 a.m., Friday, in Haven Hill Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., before the funeral.
