Cagle, Lynn Newton, age 74, of Maryville, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 after a courageous battle with Lung and metastatic Brain Cancer. A man of faith, having grown up in the Baptist Church. Lynn was a Master Tinkerer and enjoyed many hobbies which included wood working, from making clocks to beautiful furniture pieces, and his love of restoring classic Ford Thunderbirds. A native of Madisonville, he graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Hiwassee College. He was drafted during the Vietnam War and served 2 years in the U.S. Army. Retired from ALCOA (Aluminum Company of America) after a thirty year career working in the South Plant, which included a position as a foreman. Lynn was a selfless, devoted gentleman, being a caregiver to both his wife Carolyn and their special needs daughter Stephanie. Preceded in death by wife of 41 years, Carolyn Ivens Cagle, parents, Marcus “Rat” and Sadie Cagle; brother, Glenn Cagle and sister-in-law, Sandra Cagle.
Survivors, daughters, Stephanie Cagle, Shannon Cagle Yazdi (Todd) of Knoxville, his “pride and joy” granddaughters Maeve and Darcy.
Brothers Frederick “Fred” (Margie) Cagle, Howard “Randy” Cagle, sister in law Ruth Cagle, several nieces and nephews. To honor his wishes, no funeral services will be held.
A private graveside ceremony will be held at Big Creek Cemetery in Madisonville. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to U.T. Medical Center, the Cancer Institute, 1926 Alcoa Highway, Suite 310, Knoxville, TN 37920 or utmedicalcenter.org/giving.
