James S. Kyker, MD., age 82, of Sweetwater, formerly of Panama City, Fl., passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024. Preceded in death by his parents: Paul G. and Mary Annis Lambdin Kyker. Born and raised in the mountains of East Tennessee; Jim attended the Tennessee Military Institute for high school. His path then took him to the University of Tennessee for both his undergraduate and doctorate degrees. Once he became an MD, Jim volunteered in the Vietnam War, taking part in 2 tours with commendations. After returning, Jim continued to dedicate his life to helping others as a beloved urologist in Tallahassee, FL. He then moved his urology practice to Panama City, FL, where he also helped in law enforcement and served on the SWAT team. He always strived to help people without expecting recognition. Jim loved living his life to the fullest. At a young age, it was flying planes, scuba diving, and driving fast cars. Later in life, his passions turned towards hunting, enjoying the beach, and attending FSU football games. One thing he'd implore in everyone is that nothing is more important than taking a second to watch a good sunset.
Survivors include his son: Stone Kyker, Jr. of Miami, Fl., daughter: Mary Catherine Kyker, of Ft. Myers, Fl., brothers: Paul G. Kyker Jr., of Raleigh, NC., Robert N. Kyker, of Harriman, TN. Several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday November 30, 2024 at Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 P.M. with a eulogy provided by: Faye Hutt. Interment to follow in the West View Cemetery with full military honors. Committal service following with Rev. Robert Jenkins.
