Glenn Cagle of Vonore, passed away a t 9:30 p.m., Thursday, June 7, at his home. A native of Monroe County, he attended Hiwassee College and graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College with a degree in accounting and was president of his graduating class. He was a Korean War veteran and served with the 101st Airborne. He was employed with the Internal Revenue Service for 34 years, starting as a field revenue agent and progressing to the executive level. He served various executive positions across the country until his retirement in 1994. In 1997, he and his wife returned to Monroe County where they lived in the Rarity Bay Community. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Madisonville, where he was a grateful member of the Richard Spurling Sunday School Class and a proud volunteer in the church food pantry. He was involved in numerous charities but especially those involving the poor, children and animals. He was an avid sports fan and loved to travel with family and friends.

He was 77.

Preceded in death by: his beloved daughter, Lisa Lockwood; parents, M.E. and Sadie Cagle; and Prissy, the epitomy of man's best friend.

Survivors include: beloved wife of 52 years-Ruth Cagle of Vonore;

Son and daughter-in-law-Glenn Michael and Robin Cagle;

Grandchildren-Madeline, Amanda and Joshua Cagle, all of League City, Texas; and

Tyler and Leslee Lockwood of Knoxville;

Brothers and sisters-in-law-Fred and Margie Cagle of Madisonville; Lynn Cagle of Maryville; and Randy and Sandra Cagle of Ooltewah;

Several nieces and a nephew.

He was also survived by his faithful companion, Mollie, who was by his side till the end.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m., Monday, in Biereley-Hale Chapel, with Dr. Lon Shoopman officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, in Grandview Cemetery. The family request that memorials be made to the Food Pantry, First Baptist Church, Madisonville, or the Monroe County Animal Shelter, Madisonville. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., before the funeral. Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville, in charge of arrangements.
