Ethel Joines Sloan of Madisonville, passed away at 3:20 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11, at Wood Presbyterian Home.
She was born Oct. 3, 1919, to the late Fred and Della Scruggs Joines, the eighth of nine children. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Madisonville and was an avid Bridge plaer and an active member of her community.
She was married to the late Paul A. (Mutt) Sloan, who died in 1997, after 58 years of marriage.
She was 91.
Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law-Bruce and Bettys Sloan and David and Phyllis Sloan, all of Madisonville;
Grandchildren and spouses-Lynn and Dean Geiselhart of Huntsville, Ala.; Gayle and Mark Hoesel of Nashville; Beth and Rob DeNise of Knoxville; and Ben Sloan and fiance, Miranda Trent of Maryville;
Great-grandchildren-Andrew, Sloan, Erin and Allison;
Sisters-Della Springer of Madisonville; and Grace Webster of Sweetwater;
Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law-Buster and Quida Sloan and Sue Sloan, all of Madisonville; and Warren Graves of Morristown;
Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 2 p.m., Sunday, in Biereley-Hale Chapel with Rev. Curtis Woods and Dr. Lon Shoopman officiating. Interment will be in Haven Hill Memorial Gardens.
